Canal Grande - Grand Canal
A scene of the beautiful city life of Venice in fall 2006.

The church seen being under renovation is Basilica della Salute. The church was designed by Baldassare Longhena and it was built in the name of health (Salute) during the terrible plague in 1630. It was finally opened to the public 1687 (Exactly 300 years before I was born!). I'm not so sure if the church had a big positive effect by driving the plague away, but it sure is beautiful.

(I seem to have my camera settings a year in the past, because I remember clearly being in Venice last year, not 2005 )
